CNA Course Description

Based on the Indiana State Department of Health’s 2015 Nurse Aide Curriculum, our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course offers 105 hours of training. This state-approved program combines in-depth classroom instruction with practical lab and clinical experience. It equips students with foundational knowledge and essential nursing care skills. Upon completing the program and passing the state certification exam, graduates are qualified to begin entry-level roles as nursing assistants in diverse healthcare environments, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, private homes, assisted living centers, residential care settings, hospice, and home healthcare services.

Student Learning Outcome

Students will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the course objectives as outlined by the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) for Nurse Aide certification. Through classroom instruction, hands-on training, and assessments, they will gain the foundational knowledge needed to succeed in both the program and the certification exam.

In addition to mastering course content, students will be expected to show full compliance with the Scope of Practice and Standard 14. This includes understanding the legal and ethical boundaries of their role as Nurse Aides and applying this knowledge responsibly in all aspects of care.

Students will also be required to demonstrate competence in all practical skills essential for certification. These skills will be practiced in lab and clinical settings, ensuring each student is fully prepared to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care in a variety of healthcare environments.
